After escaping rapes and countless other abuses. I fines oneself applauding all of the well deserving triumphs the future brings. Endless story, jumping all over the place, with a hastily written end. One of the worst books I have read in a long time. The first half was a five star read. You can tell she is an artist because she paints pictures with her words. The second half rubbed me wrong and I disconnected from the author.
The second half was a two star read for me. I stayed up late last night to finish this book. I had to find out if Marika ever found happiness. What a beautifully written story of a horrible childhood. Dodging Nazis was bad enough but the rejection from her family broke my heart. This is a compelling story, and I read it in one sitting cause I had to know how it ended.
